This Ruck is in memory of a 2017 Project Blue recipient—Officer Castellanos
Vincent Castellanos enlisted in the United States Army of an infantryman on August 1999. He served in the Army from 1999-2015. During his service to our country, Vince became an Army Ranger and completed both Air Assault and Pathfinder schools. Castellanos deployed overseas 5 times. He is a highly decorated combat veteran whose commendations include Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal with Valor Device, 6 additional Army commendations medals, 8 Army Achievement medals & numerous campaign & qualification medals. After leaving the Military, Vince choose to continue his service as a police officer He is a patrol officer and member of the SWAT team for Sherman police department. He is married to his wife, Angelia & they have 4 children. In Oct 2016, he was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer. Even though he is undergoing chemotherapy and radiation, Castellanos refused to stop his work for the community of Sherman. We lost this hero, our Superman on December 25, 2017.
